When we look through modern interior design catalogues, it's hard to believe that not so long ago grey was not reigning in living rooms. This colour was completely unpopular, and its use was limited only to small accessories, e.g. furniture legs or vases placed here and there. And suddenly the moment came - thanks to the scandinavian style grey was finally appreciated. Today, we can find it practically everywhere. It appears in minimalist modern interiors, predatory industrial, austere loft or even in flashy glamour, where expressive furniture will come to life against its background. All this thanks to the fact that infinitely many shades of grey perfectly affect our well-being: it calms, soothes, tones, and when necessary, it can even revive the entire composition. What colours goes with grey?
One would like to say here: grey goes with everything. And of course it would be true. However, some colour combinations have gained exceptional recognition, which means that we can meet them much more often than others. By inviting them to your home, you will express modern trends in a simple way.

It is not without reason that this combination was once hailed as the hottest hit by the Pantone Institute. Grey (Ultimate Grey version) and yellow (Illuminating Yellow version) were chosen as the colours of 2021 and rightly so! The combination of these two colours arouses recognition with its modern character. The complementary colour profiles have a decidedly positive effect on each other, which allows them to bring out their best features. Just remember to keep the proportions right. Yellow will be much better here as a crazy addition that will revive the calmness of grey with its presence. So reach for a yellow carpet, put a yellow decorative pillow on a grey sofa or put sunflowers in vases. Single, yellow furniture surrounded by a sea of grey will also work well here, e.g. a lounge chair with a matching pouffe. You can also opt for a yellow corner, which you will surround with more subdued structures.
Blues notes, i.e. we combine grey and blue
Pastel shades of blue are rarely hosted in our homes. What a pity! They look great when combined with a mild grey. Both of these colours have similar colour notes and perfectly complement each other. If we put them together, we can easily build a composition dominated by a calm, muted atmosphere. Grey combined with pink can arouse surprise. But completely undeserved. After all, such a combination will look very neat, elegant and at the same time light. It is only important to reach for pastel shades and here and there enrich them with delicate white. In this way, we will conjure up a mixture of a subtle character that will perfectly fit into the rules governing the arrangement of calm living rooms or bedrooms. A good solution will be to invite pinkish textiles to the interior: blankets, rugs, decorative pillows. A carpet with grey and pink geometric patterns will look nice on the floor. Nothing stands in the way of placing a delicately pink pouffe in the corner of the room, on which you can put your legs comfortably. Looking for a more unusual solution? - grey, white and black - a safe classic that is a successful base for many arrangements, especially Scandinavian. It will be perfect in the variant of grey walls plus a black sofa plus white accessories, e.g. mirrors in white frames.
