The filling of a corner sofa or a couch: why is it so important? Sitting is one of the activities we do most often during the day, but we don't usually spend much thought on it.

Unless the seat we are sitting on is uncomfortable: too hard; or too soft and therefore unhealthy for the spine.

The filling of a couch or corner sofa or armchairs, unfortunately, often loses the ability to return to form with age.  This makes the furniture uncomfortable. However, there is a foam that has high elasticity, and at the same time is durable and resilient. We are talking about HR foam consisting of millions of air bubbles arranged irregularly inside the foam. These, in turn, make it a very high-quality product.

About HR foam:
•    durability and resistance to damage and deformation
•    longer life of furniture
•    high elasticity - proper fit to the body
•    healthy for the spine - adequate support for the body
•    increased air circulation
•    guarantee of comfortable rest

Understanding foam quality
One of the best ways to ensure that your new furniture will look good for a long time is to make sure that the foam used in it is of good quality. Choosing the right foam will extend the years of comfort and life of your upholstered furniture. Most complaints about upholstered furniture stem from poor comfort or durability of the seat cushions.

HR FOAM - highly resilient foam
When it comes to the best foam for seats of leisure furniture and mattresses, the title of champion among foams is won by HR foam with high resistance. It is a very good quality foam that is used in most types of luxury furniture, including yachting and boats. It is also an excellent mattress, due to its buoyancy and elasticity.

Key applications of HR foam:
-Mattresses

-Top mattresses

-Seats

-Pillows

Density
The type of foam used in the seat of the furniture is one of the most important factors determining the comfort and life of the product. The density of the foam determines its quality. Each foam has its weight and usually the higher the weight the better.
Foam density is not something that is usually talked about when choosing a new lounge piece for your home. However, it is one of the most important elements of a great sofa or corner sofa. It determines not only the softness of the sofa, but also how long it will last. The high density of the foam means the furniture will last longer.

How is foam density measured? Typically by weighing a 12 x 12 x 12 block of foam. If the foam weighs 1 kilogram, it has a density of 1. If it weighs 2 kilograms, its density is 2, and so on. So the math is dividing the weight by the width x height x length. We use this along with the cubic meter measurement to get the density of the foam. This gives us a standard to compare the densities of different pillows. After all, if something is dense, then there is more of it in a certain space. The good density of the foam will ensure that the foam will be comfortable for a long time. What is considered high-density foam? With an average of 1.8, high density foam can be any density level 2 and above. Most high-density furniture is in the 2-2.5 range. This is generally more expensive to make because it is denser, which means more material is packed into the same space.

In conclusion - density is one of the most noticeable and important parts of the couch. In order for the furniture to serve as long as possible, it is recommended to purchase a sofa with a density of at least 1.8 or higher. Certainly lounge furniture is furniture that is used a lot, so why not make it as comfortable as possible?

In the ELTAP offer you can find a lot of comfortable pieces of furniture whose seats are filled with HR foam. We strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with our offer. HR foam can be found, for example, in the Louis corner model or in the Dalia sofa. The Megis lounge furniture set is also a guarantee of comfortable spending time provided by the use of HR foam in the furniture seats. As in the Lazaro and Silva sets, the modern Bretan corner sofa is also equipped with highly elastic foam.

How it's done?
HR foam - highly resilient is a polymer formed as a result of a chemical reaction of polyol and diisocyanate (two chemical compounds formed from organic compounds). The ratio of polyol to diisocyanate is 2:1 to make polyurethane, although there may be other compounds that are added to give the proper flexibility and density to each piece of foam. The foam is synthesized, poured into moulds and cooled before being cut into mattress layers. High resilient foam is usually used in the middle layers.

Mattresses
Mattresses made of HR foam ensure proper adaptation to the shape of the body. Thanks to their irregular structure and high porosity, polyurethane foam mattresses are light and very comfortable, and at the same time have excellent ventilation, which prevents the development of mould and fungus and ensures high hygiene. A mattress with this type of foam is an excellent choice for allergy sufferers. HR foam regains its original shape twice as fast, thanks to which it supports the spine when changing positions during sleep.

At ELTAP,  we also offer  mattresses in which HR foam is used. These are, for example, thermoelastic mattresses: Sergio, Simona and Sola. We recommend checking what is hidden in them and discover the world of peaceful sleep.

Health
HR foam is one of the best materials used in the production of mattresses with pronounced, ergonomic orthopaedic properties. It provides excellent body support thanks to the obtained high flexibility based on an open cell structure. Highly elastic mattresses are extremely comfortable, but they also bring other benefits beyond comfort and durability. It turns out that HR foam mattresses are good for those looking for mattresses for orthopaedic use as they can support the spine, neck and shoulders while giving them a chance to relax. The pressure points are relaxed while still enjoying the support of the HR mattress. Thanks to the open cell structure, HR foam is characterized by increased softness, greater comfort and flexibility, improved breathability and better durability.

The cellular structure of HR foams makes mattresses very responsive and return to their original shape, as well as providing adequate support and distributing pressure over a wide area, which can be beneficial in relieving pain. Because HR foams provide optimal support, people with poor posture, back problems and more can benefit from a high resilience mattress.

Buying furniture is not easy and can turn out to be quite expensive, so when shopping, it is important to choose something that will not lose its shape or level of performance for a long time. A great example of this is furniture such as sofas or mattresses, which use highly elastic HR foam. Highly resilient foams are characterized by high sensitivity and flexibility. This means that even after frequent and intensive use for several years, there will be no body marks, broken springs or flattened furniture. Density and firmness are important attributes of each foam. In short, firmness is the degree of "softness" of the foam, while density is its weight, which is an indicator of quality and durability.

By choosing furniture with highly elastic foam, you can say that we introduce a bit of luxury not only in the interior of our home, but also for our rest.
